WOW!! That was great!! I thought this whole time I had my website updated and uploaded. Then I come here today and check it out and I had the old news and results. It was a good post. Now I know why Romjue didn't call me and start telling me off.
Well let me see what I can remember from hmmmm a month ago. The last two Thursday Night races were canceled due to rain one week and electricity problems the next. It was a big struggle to get the 36mini ready. The stealth motor that we had last year blew up at World Series and the head had minor damage. So after getting a few valves changed, and checking the head for any cracks we were ready to run the mini stock challenge race. But, I waited too long and put the head on the day of the event. There was water spitting out of the exhaust and it was running like crap. So there goes my hopes. So I gave up and the head actually had an internal crack. So the season was looking slim on running any races. It has been a nightmare this season. I had not run one race and i went through 3 heads and 4 blocks( they were all junk). So after a visit to SAWCO racing I got a nice good block. I put a new set of bearings and the block was ready to go. Its nice to spend about $100 on a race block..lol
So the big question was what head should I use? or do I have one? So I went into my trophy case( there was a head (first heat win), a sore loser plaque, and a feature win plaque) So I took the head out of retirement and the day of August 18th I put it on the car.
So August 18th the 36mini made its season debut!!! I arrived around 4ish and had to get a Nascar license and right as i got back they were going out for the last round of practice. The car felt flat, So i decided to adjust the timing for the heat race.. I think I went the wrong way, The car had nothing compared to before or the cars are that much faster. So for the feature I decided to adjust the timing the other way. It was a big improvement . I started 16th and finished 6th. I am happy where I finished, I had no idea what was going to happen with the new head and block. Everything on the car was running great minus the carburetor. I swear there must be some mice that live in it during the off season. I should keep the carburetor in my trophy case instead of the swamp in the back yard. I hope I can straighten this carburetor issue for the next race.
